Silver Eagles

1 Ounce American Silver Eagle $1 Coin

Starting in 1986, the Silver Eagle is the United States’ modern silver dollar bullion coin struck from 1986 to present. On the obverse is Adolph A. Weinman’s iconic Walking Liberty design struck on half dollars from 1916 to 1947, paired with the Heraldic Eagle from John Mercanti for the reverse. In 2021 the reverse was changed to Emily Damstra’s Flying Eagle or Type 2 reverse that continues today.

Bullion silver eagles can be attributed to certain mints on the holder, but this is mostly a newer aspect of grading. Especially since the early years, there are many dates where different mints both produced bullion silver eagles and there are few if virtually none attributed by holders as they would have had to go there straight from the mint or be sealed in a monster box graded years later. That being said, I would love to try and do a die study and provide probable examples from the early years that I believe to be from both mints!
