No certified examples yet exist in DCAM so I will say this: I believe this to be the deepest cameoed example of this variety I’m aware of. This exemplifies my guiding vision for this collection: superlative technically graded examples of all varieties; say, taking a cameo or a deep cameo in for example PR 66 over one with less surface contact marks but perhaps in a 68 but without or with lesser cameo contrast or without full bands wherever possible. I want to take into account each variety and find what makes an example of it superlative enough for the Ryan’s Roosevelts Collection! This CACG 66 CAM example that GreatCollections listed as DCAM will serve nicely I think.

I love how the flames of the torch are toned red! Upside of the toning I think is obscuring the reverse enough to keep it from any cameo designation, the contrast is still clear and beautiful! Very dramatic doubling.

The closest I could get to full bands. What a treat to have Bill Fivaz’s signature on this label! Who knows, maybe in a hundred years its water-spotted surfaces will have developed into toning more gorgeous than we can imagine!
